I was born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama. While earning an Associate of Science degree in Business Management, I found myself working in the tax department of a large corporation. After some time, I realized that I needed more education in order to get myself where my heart told me I would rather be. I moved to Savannah, GA in 2008 and began work on a Bachelor of Fine Art degree. In May of 2014, I will graduate from Armstrong Atlantic State University with a focus in ceramics.
Working on the potter’s wheel, where I generate a wide variety of shapes and vessels, is my preference. In my work, I place a strong emphasis on developing my ceramics to ensure a high level of craftsmanship. I create functional pieces that I believe should be used as much as appreciated for their beauty. I also create more decorative pieces using a variety of alternative firing methods. Raku horse hair, sawdust firing, and Raku firing are methods I’ve worked with while also researching other methods to experiment with.
